Mad Mens Matthew Weiner And Wife Linda Brettler Gearing Up For Divorce Following Misconduct Scand

According to a report from Page Six, the relationship between Mad Men‘s Matthew Weiner and his wife, Linda Brettler, is officially over. The 54-year-old showrunner filed for divorce on Wednesday, according to documents obtained by The Blast.

Matthew and Linda first got married in 1991 and had four children together, one of which was Marten Holden Weiner, who played Glen Bishop on the AMC series starring Jon Hamm. Two years ago in November 2017, Weiner was hit with sexual harassment allegations from the Mad Men writer, Kater Gordon.

Gordon won an Emmy Award for her writing on the show along with Weiner in 2009. She said to The Information that Weiner once told her she “owed it to him” to see her without any clothes on. Reportedly, Kater said she froze and brushed it off, but realized she was in a situation where she couldn’t win.

Speaking with reporters from The Vanity Fair, Weiner said he didn’t remember ever saying anything like that but wasn’t saying it was impossible either. “I really don’t remember saying it,” Mr. Weiner remarked. Moreover, The Vanity Fair journalist called Matthew recently to ask him if he wanted to clarify what he said.

Mr. Weiner said to the reporter that he can’t imagine a situation where he would use the word, “hedging.” The allegations against Matthew Weiner were just one of many in the #MeToo movement which took the world by storm in the final months of 2017.

Ironically, the allegations against Matthew Weiner are somewhat similar to the type of behavior demonstrated on the set of Mad Men, a series based on an advertising agency in the 1960s. The series received critical praise for the way in which it highlighted gender norms, social conventions, and work-life dynamics.

Since Mad Men premiered in the late 2000s, it has gone down in history and is widely considered, as one of the greatest television shows of all time. It started on AMC in 2007, finishing off its final season four years ago in 2015.
