LoL Archangel's Staff and Seraph's Embrace Rework: New Changes, Release Date, and More

With new items being introduced, Riot is reworking Archangel’s Staff and Seraph’s Embrace for League of Legends.

The items, Archangel’s Staff and Seraph’s Embrace, have existed in League of Legends for a long time. Also, these items are related to one another as the Archangel’s Staff upgrades to a Seraphs Embrace. This one item has been very popular in the game, with many mages building the item for various reasons.

The current iteration of the item provides health and ability haste to champions, as well as mana regeneration due to Tears of the Goddess being a component of the item. However, the current version did not garner the usage rate of previous iterations. Thus, Riot has decided to change the items.

The new proposed reworks are part of the Preseason 2022 cycle, and Riot is making tweaks and changes just like in any preseason in the past. That keeps the game fresh, and we can enjoy the games. Let’s talk about the new Archangel’s Staff and Seraph’s Embrace.

Archangel’s Staff Rework

The new Archangel’s Staff rework was publicized by Spideraxe and is as follows:

  • Ability Power Increased By 40 (from 60 AP to 100 AP)
  • Health Removed From Item
  • 10 Ability Haste Added
  • Awe passive ability changed from “Gaining Ability Haste equal to 0.5% bonus Mana” to “Gaining Ability Power equal to 1% bonus Mana.”
  • Item Build Path changed to Tear + Fiendish Codex + Needlessly Large Rod from Tear + Kindlegem + Blasting Wand.
  • Cost increased to a total of 3000 gold.

* Serpah's now grants 3 ability for 5 seconds every time you damage an enemy, stacking up to 5 times.
* Seraph's no longer heals for 25% of mana spent pic.twitter.com/nez3iOIACK

This is a revert to the old Archangel’s Staff in the past of sorts. They will amplify the amount of Ability Power a champion can achieve in the game as the passive gives you more AP now. The cost for the item was also increased to match the amount of power given by the item. Lastly, the upgrade to Seraph’s Embrace still remains the same.

Seraph’s Embrace Rework

Just like Archangel’s Staff, Seraph’s Embrace gets many of those changes and some additional ones.

  • Ability Power Increased By 40 (from 60 AP to 100 AP)
  • Health Removed From Item
  • 10 Ability Haste Added
  • Awe passive ability changed from “Gaining Ability Haste equal to 1.3% bonus Mana” to “Gaining Ability Power equal to 3% bonus Mana.”
  • Empyrean passive ability changed to “Dealing ability damage to an enemy champion grants you 3 Ability Haste for 5 seconds, up to 5 times.

Like Archangels, Seraph’s Embrace has been reworked as mentioned above. The biggest change is the Empyrean Passive which will give at most 15 Ability Haste for 5 seconds at a given time. Also, the Awe passive will give a lot more AP to the champion.

Overall, this is going to be a strong item in Season 13.

When Will The Changes Be Released?

As of now, the release date is expected to be on the preseason patch, patch 12.23. The items are still being tested and should be ready when patch 12.23 is ready to land.
