Elliott did well during the 2022 season, earning 876 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, but in March, the Cowboys opted to release him.

While he wasn’t with the Cowboys as long as Tony Romo, once they released him, it took a while for him to find another team. 

After being rejected by the New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Philadelphia Eagles, Elliott was signed by the New England Patriots.
